Reinventing Cities Competition
The Material Innovation Center is one of 24 sites worldwide participating in 2024 Reinventing Cities Competition organized by C40 Cities. Read on for more details and ways to engage!
On October 15, 2024, join the City of San Antonio, Port San Antonio, and C40 Cities for a local meet-up focused on the Reinventing Cities Competition!
Hear from City of San Antonio leadership about the Material Innovation Center (MIC), a salvage and reuse initiative located in a neighborhood of 1920s bungalows at Port San Antonio. The MIC serves as the last stop before the landfill, and we have our sights set on making it a hub for material repair, reuse, and reimagination!
If you’re in or near San Antonio, we invite you to join us in person for a presentation, tour of the MIC, and happy hour, but we welcome remote participation from anyone interested in how the seventh largest city in the U.S. can be a model for innovative, zero-carbon and resilient urban projects.
C40 Reinventing Cities is a global competition that includes a call for proposals that stimulate sustainable development and innovative solutions to environmental and urban challenges. The initiative invites creative professionals worldwide—including architects, planners, developers, investors, environmentalists, start-ups and more—to design and develop projects of the future.
