Fill out a Material Receivership Request
The City of San Antonio Material Innovation Center (MIC) serves as the "last stop before the landfill" for salvaged, surplus, and post-consumer building materials. The MIC redistributes materials free of charge to eligible organizations.
In the MIC's current pilot scale, the materials are reserved for government agencies, nonprofits, and community-based organizations that support eligible community projects, including (but not limited to):
Affordable housing repair and production
Community resilience hubs (including those supported by the Climate Ready Neighborhood Network)
Trades, design, and related education (e.g., K-12 and higher education projects, research projects, demonstration projects)
Public space improvements (e.g., park benches, shade structures, bus stop shelters, seating areas)
Enhancements to shared community facilities (e.g., nonprofit spaces, senior centers, youth centers)
Community gardening and urban agriculture infrastructure (e.g., raised beds, tool storage)
Accessibility or quality-of-life improvements for vulnerable populations
Outdoor gathering spaces for community use (e.g., church courtyards, neighborhood commons)
Small-scale neighborhood improvements (e.g., fencing, safety features, basic infrastructure for residents in need)
